Cantabria’s health authorities identified E. coli STEC contamination in 67 kg of hamburger meat sold at the Santander Burger Festival.
Ten boxes (67 kg) were seized in Santander and another 20 boxes were blocked in Valencia, bringing the total recalled amount to 200 kg across Spain. The bacterium can cause severe gastrointestinal illness, especially in children and immunocompromised individuals.
Because two weeks have passed since the meat was first served, officials consider the risk of a widespread outbreak to be low.
