Alyssa Thomas, a forward for the Phoenix Mercury, was suspended for one game after the WNBA retroactively classified her contact with Caitlin Clark during a matchup against the Indiana Fever as a Flagrant Foul 2, despite the play not being called a foul in real time. Following the suspension, Thomas said she has been subjected to death threats and racial slurs on social media.
While she accepts the league’s disciplinary action, she vowed not to remain silent against the abuse. The WNBA has launched an investigation into the incident.
