The Colombian Geological Survey (SGC) has provided a detailed explanation regarding the tectonic and hydrogeological factors that contributed to the quake's destructive power. This seismic event is considered the most potent recorded in the country over the past decade, causing widespread concern.
Julio Fierro Morales, the general director of the SGC, emphasized the severity of the tremor. According to the official technical report released by the entity, the earthquake originated from a deep oceanic mass.
