Colombia reduces weekly work hours to 42, new limit effective July 16 2026

The phased labor reform introduced by Law 2101 in 2021 reaches its final stage on 16 July 2026, capping the standard work week at 42 hours. Employers will need to adjust shift schedules to comply with the new limit.

Workers are expected to benefit from increased rest and personal time. The government has also set up monitoring mechanisms to guard against potential productivity losses.
