Double Earthquake Strikes Chocó Colombia on August 24

The Colombian Geological Service (SGC) reported two consecutive earthquakes in the western region of Colombia on Monday, August 24. Both seismic events occurred within a short span of 24 minutes, with their epicenters located in the department of Chocó.

Residents in surrounding municipalities reported feeling the tremors, leading to widespread concern among the local population. According to updated bulletins from the SGC, the intensity of both earthquakes was moderate.

Fortunately, their depths helped prevent any immediate severe structural damage or significant harm to the inhabitants. Despite the lack of major damage, the close proximity of the two epicenters heightened anxiety in the affected areas.

Authorities continue to monitor the seismic activity in the region closely.
