Former San Francisco 49ers defensive end Aldon Smith has passed away at the age of 36. Smith arrived at a hospital in San Jose without vital signs, marking a tragic end for the once-dominant pass rusher.
Drafted seventh overall in 2011, he recorded 14 sacks as a rookie and set the franchise record with 19. 5 sacks in 2012.
Despite his early success, his career was derailed by off-field incidents and suspensions, preventing him from reclaiming his All-Pro form with the Raiders and Cowboys.
