Ilia Topuria has spoken out for the first time since suffering his first professional defeat at the hands of Justin Gaethje at UFC Casa Blanca. After being treated at a hospital for his injuries, the Spanish fighter posted a gracious message on his Instagram account congratulating his opponent.
Topuria revealed that Gaethje took away his vision in the right eye during the first round and the left eye by the end of the second. Without making any excuses, Topuria stated he had one of the best camps of his life and arrived in full form.
The former lightweight champion promised to recover, rest, and return stronger, wiser, and more dangerous than before.
