Ivory Coast coach Faé calls Schweinsteiger's African label racist

Ivory Coast head coach Emerse Faé condemned former German international Bastian Schweinsteiger's description of African football as racist. Schweinsteiger had used the term to characterise the continent's physical playing style and passion, which Faé argued was a prejudiced portrayal.

Faé stressed that such remarks undermine the universal spirit of the game and said he expects statements from FIFA and other governing bodies.
