Jannik Sinner Becomes 1st Italian Man to Win Italian Open in 50 Years

Italian tennis fans had waited half a century for this moment. World number one Jannik Sinner defeated Casper Ruud 6-4, 6-4 on the red clay of the Foro Italico to claim the Italian Open title.

Sinner became the first Italian man to win the tournament since Adriano Panatta 50 years ago. Additionally, Sinner earned the distinction of becoming only the second man after Novak Djokovic to win all nine Masters 1000 events, the biggest tournaments outside the Grand Slams.
