Legendary Boxer Pepe Legrá Passes Away at 90 in Madrid

The great Spanish boxing champion of Cuban origin, José "Pepe" Legrá, passed away last night at 90 years old in Madrid's Gómez Ulla Hospital. His death followed a recent deterioration from a serious illness, and he was surrounded by his closest family and friends.

Legrá was considered one of Spain's greatest athletes of all time, shining alongside stars like tennis player Manuel Santana and motorcyclist Ángel Nieto in the 1970s. He arrived in Spain from Cuba in late 1963, where he was met by his compatriot, the popular trainer "Kid Tunero" (Evelio Mustelier), who helped launch his illustrious career.
