Mexico Imposes Travel Restrictions Amid Ebola Outbreak Ahead of 2026 World Cup

With just under two weeks left before the 2026 World Cup kickoff, Mexico introduced strict travel measures to curb the Ebola threat. Health and immigration officials announced a temporary ban on passengers arriving from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and Sudan starting May 28.

Airlines are already refusing boarding for travelers who have recently been in those regions. The move aims to protect the tournament’s participants and fans from a potential health crisis.

Officials stressed that the restrictions are temporary and will be reassessed as the situation evolves.
