NCAA Tournaments Expand to 76 Teams in 2027

The NCAA announced that both the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments will expand to 76 teams starting with the 2027 season. Eight additional teams will be added, and 24 of them will compete in an expanded opening round.

This change represents the most significant format overhaul in decades. The larger field gives more schools the chance to participate in March Madness.
