Neymar Injury Raises Concerns for Brazil: Can He Make the 2026 World Cup?

Neymar has set off alarm bells at the start of Brazil's World Cup preparations after the Brazilian Football Confederation announced that the Santos star did not participate in training in Teresópolis due to physical problems. The CBF stated that the player was transferred to a clinic in the city for additional tests, adding that no further information would be provided until the medical team's evaluations were complete.

Brazil's team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar revealed that Neymar will be sidelined for between two and three weeks. This means the 34-year-old star will miss Brazil's friendly matches and is also expected to be unavailable for the opening game of the 2026 World Cup.

The coaching staff will need to decide whether Neymar can be replaced in the tournament if he fails to recover in time for the later stages.
