Spanish teenager Rafa Jódar advanced to the quarterfinals at Roland Garros, marking a breakthrough on the Grand Slam stage. After winning the Roehampton tournament two years ago, the Madrid‑born player has risen from practicing in his home garage to competing on the sport’s most iconic clay courts.
He previously sparred with top stars such as Alcaraz, Tsitsipas and Félix Auger‑Aliassime during the Mutua Madrid Open. Jódar describes Roland Garros as his favorite tournament and sees this run as the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.
His father, also named Rafa, serves as his coach and mentor.
