The documentary "Cáscara de Nuez" by Miguel Ángel Tobías premiered on Sunday at the terrace of the Real Club Náutico de Palma. The film follows a small sailboat that set out from Lanzarote to the Caribbean, covering more than 3,000 nautical miles.
A crew of twelve individuals, ranging in age from 17 to 80, embarked on the voyage despite having little or no prior sailing experience. Over a period of thirty days the participants lived in complete self‑sufficiency, isolated from any external communication.
Throughout the crossing they confronted severe storms, mechanical failures and the psychological strain of confined living conditions. The documentary captures how the strangers gradually forged a strong bond, ultimately becoming a family united by shared hardship.
Tobías uses the narrative to illustrate broader themes of perseverance, hope and the search for happiness. The screening attracted a mixed audience of sailing enthusiasts and film lovers, who responded positively to the emotional depth of the story.
