San Jose Sharks Draft 7‑Foot‑1 Alexander Karmanov, NHL’s Tallest Player

18‑year‑old Alexander Karmanov spent the 2025‑26 campaign with the Brantford Titans of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League before appearing in 20 OHL games for the North Bay Battalion. The San Jose Sharks selected him 201st overall, making him the tallest player ever drafted in the NHL.

Karmanov will return to the Battalion for the 2026‑27 season and is slated to play college hockey at Penn State in 2027.
