Sweden have suffered a major defensive setback ahead of their World Cup encounter against France in New York on June 30. Atalanta centre-back Hien sustained a serious left hamstring injury during the first half of the match against Japan.
The Swedish Football Association confirmed that the 27-year-old defender will miss the remainder of the tournament. Head coach Graham Potter indicated that 20-year-old Tottenham midfielder Lucas Bergvall is being considered as a replacement.
Bergvall, who has already earned 13 international caps, could step into the squad for the crucial group stage match.
