USGA adjusts U.S. Open course to counter wind and 'syringing'

USGA Championships Officer John Bodenhamer noted that lessons from the 2018 Shinnecock Hills U. S.

Open have been applied to this year's tournament layout. Organizers have repositioned fairways and tee boxes to lessen the influence of wind and the unpredictable 'syringing' effect on ball flight.
