Why Are There Two Different World Cup Trophies

Throughout FIFA World Cup history, two different trophy designs have been awarded. The original Jules Rimet Trophy was permanently claimed by Brazil after their third title in 1970.

A new trophy was commissioned and has been awarded to champions ever since the 1974 tournament in West Germany.
