A 36‑year‑old woman died after being struck by a boat propeller while participating in an inflatable‑donut water activity off the coast of Jávea at 18:45. The accident occurred about 400 metres from the shore in the Caleta area, and although rescue services retrieved her to the harbor, they were unable to revive her.
Preliminary investigations suggest the incident was an accident, and the Guardia Civil has opened a judicial inquiry into the circumstances. The tragedy has left participants and local residents in shock, prompting calls for stricter safety measures during water‑sport events.
