Antonelli Leads F1 Championship Ahead of Italian GP at Monza
The Formula 1 season is set to resume with the highly anticipated Italian Grand Prix at the legendary Autodromo Nazionale Monza, taking place from September 4th to 6th. This 13th round of the 2026 championship sees Mercedes' young talent, Antonelli, leading the drivers' standings with an impressive 242 points.
He holds a significant advantage over his teammates George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, who are tied with 183 points each. Antonelli's dominance is further highlighted by his increased lead after the recent Zandvoort race, which also featured a Sprint event.
Notably, the 19-year-old Italian is the first driver from his country to lead the World Championship heading into his home Grand Prix since Alberto Ascari in 1953. Meanwhile, Lando Norris has shown strong form, securing victories in the last two rounds in Hungary and the Netherlands, making him a formidable contender.
