Big Ten Commissioner Petitti Reaffirms Push for 24-Team Playoff in 2027

During the opening day of the conference’s media sessions, Petitti stated that a 24‑team College Football Playoff slated for 2027 would boost the conference’s competitive edge and give more programs a shot at the national title. The proposal aims to expand the current 12‑team format, allowing additional conferences to participate.

The Big Ten is actively working to accelerate NCAA approval for this expansion.
