Colombia confirms July 13 as an official national holiday
Colombia introduced a new public holiday through Law 2578, approved on June 1, 2026. The legislation commemorates Our Lady of the Rosary of Chiquinquirá by declaring July 9 a holiday.
Because July 9 fell on a Thursday, the Emiliani law shifted the observance to the following Monday, July 13. Consequently, 2026 will see a total of 19 national holidays across the country.
