Colombia sets new rules for electric scooters and bicycles
Colombia has officially implemented new regulations governing the use of alternative mobility vehicles like electric scooters and bikes. Under Law 2486 of 2025, these devices are now formally categorized as light personal electric vehicles distinct from motorcycles.
Authorities have introduced a transition period for user education before penalties are enforced. Fines and sanctions will become mandatory starting in the year 2027.
