Como 1907 bans heading for youth players to protect health

Como 1907 has rolled out a phased protocol that limits heading in training and matches to protect its youth players from concussion risks. Players under ten are prohibited from heading, while older age groups will use lighter balls and a capped number of repetitions.

Former international defender Raphael Varane endorsed the measure, stressing the duty to safeguard the next generation. The club hopes the initiative will yield long‑term health and performance benefits.
