Connecticut Senate Honors Basketball Legends with New State Birds

The Connecticut Senate passed an amendment that will take effect in March, adding two new state birds alongside the traditional robin. The new birds are named after basketball icons Sue Bird and Jordan Hawkins.

Lawmakers introduced the measure to celebrate the state’s reputation as a basketball capital. While the robin remains the official bird, the trio will be recognized throughout March.
