Cordoba Signs Almeria Defender Nelson Monte on Season Loan

Cordoba secured their final summer reinforcement on the closing day of the transfer window by signing Nelson Monte. The 31-year-old Portuguese central defender joins the club on a loan deal from Almeria.

Cordoba sought defensive depth as they were left with only three healthy central defenders due to a long-term injury to Fomeyem. Monte has significant experience in Spanish football, having previously played a key role for Malaga during their promotion campaign.

Last season at Almeria, he logged over 2,400 minutes across 28 official appearances. However, he had not featured under manager Garcia Pimienta in the current campaign.

This lack of playing time prompted his move to seek a new challenge in Andalusian football.
