Goalkeeper Injury Timeouts Banned for 2026 World Cup
FIFA has announced that teams will no longer be allowed to call a tactical timeout when a goalkeeper is injured during the 2026 World Cup. Players will be prohibited from entering the technical area to consult coaches in such situations.
The change aims to prevent time‑wasting and keep the flow of the match uninterrupted. Goalkeepers will now have to receive treatment without the aid of a formal timeout.
