Hockey Canada Reinstates Alex Formenton, Suspends Four Others
Hockey Canada announced today an update concerning the disciplinary actions against five players who were recently acquitted of sexual assault allegations. The organization confirmed that forward Alex Formenton has been reinstated to the national program with immediate effect.
In contrast, defensemen Cal Foote and Dillon Dubé, goaltender Carter Hart, and forward Michael McLeod will continue to serve suspensions imposed by the governing body. Hockey Canada clarified that the suspensions stem from internal conduct investigations that are independent of the criminal court outcomes.
Officials highlighted that maintaining the integrity of the sport and ensuring a safe environment for all participants remain top priorities. The suspended athletes are subject to ongoing monitoring and will be required to meet specific conditions before any reconsideration of their status.
The federation indicated that each case will be reviewed individually, and further decisions will be communicated as the process advances.
