Imola selected as 2026 Formula 1 season finale over Portimao

The debate over the final race of the 2026 season was shaped by the relocation of the Bahrain Grand Prix to Malaysia and scheduling uncertainties for Qatar and Abu Dhabi. Portimao was removed from the schedule due to required facility upgrades and a postponement to 2027.

Imola, expected to run at around 10 °C on 6 December and located just 30 km from Bologna—the hometown of Kimi Antonelli—was chosen as the finale venue. The decision ensures the season ends with a total of 22 races.
