Infantino says FIFA will study 2030 World Cup with 64 teams

After the 2026 tournament, FIFA chief Gianni Infantino revived the discussion of a larger 2030 World Cup. The proposed 64‑team format would increase participation by 16 additional countries beyond the existing 48‑team structure.

Spain is expected to be one of the co‑hosts for the expanded event. FIFA will review the proposal within its governing bodies and aim for a transparent decision‑making process.
