Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin Mega-Rocket Explodes During Test at Cape Canaveral
The New Glenn mega-rocket, developed by Jeff Bezos's aerospace company Blue Origin, exploded on the launch pad during a hot-fire test at Complex 36 of the United States Space Force Station in Cape Canaveral. Blue Origin reported on X (Twitter) that the rocket experienced an anomaly during a ground firing test.
The cause of the explosion is not yet known, but the company stated, "We will rebuild whatever is necessary and fly again. " All personnel at the site were confirmed to be safe.
The New Glenn rocket was designed as a major milestone in Blue Origin's space transportation ambitions. Such test anomalies are not uncommon in the aerospace industry during the development of new vehicles.
