John Galliano Removed from Met Gala 2027 Exhibition

However, the announcement immediately triggered significant backlash due to Galliano's controversial history, specifically his 2011 conviction for hate crimes in Paris. As tensions rose, donors and museum members expressed deep concern regarding the association.

Furthermore, New York City Council President Julie Menin publicly urged the institution to reconsider the exhibition. The museum ultimately chose to pivot, acknowledging that the controversy had overshadowed the artistic intent of the project.
