LaLiga Opening Week Matches Face Postponement Due to World Cup
According to LaLiga President Javier Tebas, the opening matchday of the 2026-27 season, scheduled for August 14-16, could undergo significant changes. Matches involving teams with players who reached the World Cup semifinals will be subject to postponement.
With Spain and France already confirmed as semifinalists, four fixtures are set to be affected. These include high-profile clashes such as Barcelona-Athletic, Real Madrid-Real Sociedad, Atlético-Málaga, and Celta-Osasuna.
A fifth match, Alavés-Getafe, also faces a potential postponement.
