Leo Román Makes Historic Debut for Spain's National Team

Leo Román etched his name in history with a 17‑minute cameo for the Spanish national side. The Ibiza‑born goalkeeper entered the field during La Roja's 1‑1 draw with Iraq, becoming the first player from the island to wear the national jersey.

Despite a challenging personal season and Mallorca's relegation, Luis de la Fuente recognized his talent and gave him the opportunity. He surpassed rivals such as Aarón Escandell and David Soria to earn his spot.

Román's appearance marks the first time in 18 years that a Mallorca player has represented Spain.
