Luka Doncic's NBA Europe ownership plan hits roadblock from league commissioner

Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic has been working to acquire the Italian club Vanoli Cremona and relocate it to Rome as part of a new NBA Europe league. During the NBA Finals, Commissioner Adam Silver said the league has not yet decided whether active NBA players can own franchises in the proposed competition.

This regulatory uncertainty puts Doncic's ambitious project on hold. Silver explained that the NBA wants to safeguard competitive integrity before approving any ownership structures.

The outcome will determine whether the European venture proceeds, potentially reshaping the continent's basketball landscape.
