Magnitude 5.1 Earthquake Strikes Central Colombia Near Santander

A significant seismic event occurred in the central and eastern regions of the country. According to official geological data, the earthquake registered a magnitude of 5.

1 with a depth of 149 kilometers. The epicenter was located just 7 kilometers from the municipality of Los Santos in Santander.

Initial automated reports initially indicated a slightly higher magnitude before seismologists finalized the measurement. The tremor was widely perceived across various parts of the national territory.

The national seismic network collected over two thousand felt reports from more than one hundred municipalities. These observations were concentrated primarily in Santander, Boyaca, Cundinamarca, Antioquia, and the coffee-growing axis.
