Mexico-Argentina friendly cancelled over AFA dispute
Ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a scheduled friendly between Mexico and Argentina was called off at the last minute because the Argentine FA set what were described as 'strange' conditions. The Mexican Football Federation (FMF) condemned the decision and had to reshuffle its preparation schedule.
The cancellation could affect both teams' readiness, especially as Mexico later fell 2‑3 to England in the round of 16.
