Padres' Ramón Laureano out for season after major hip surgery

Padres outfielder Ramón Laureano will miss the remainder of the 2026 season after undergoing hip surgery, leaving the club to rely on backup outfield options. Laureano previously dealt with soreness in the same hip while with the Oakland Athletics in 2021.

In the 2024 campaign he posted a. 300 average with eight RBIs over 15 games.

Doctors estimate a minimum six‑month rehabilitation before he can return to game action. The injury forces the Padres to explore depth options on the left side and may trigger trade or roster moves.
