Pumas UNAM announces Efraín Juárez's departure as head coach

Pumas UNAM officially announced on Friday that Efraín Juárez would leave his role as head coach. The decision came just days after the team fell to Cruz Azul in the Clausura 2026 final despite finishing the regular season as overall leaders.

Sports vice‑president Antonio Sancho stated the departure was entirely Juárez's own choice, even though his contract remained valid. Within a week, Juárez took charge of Gyri ETO FC in Hungary and led the side in the opening round of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers.
