River Plate Officially Signs Nicolás Otamendi
River Plate officially announced the signing of 38-year-old experienced defender Nicolás Otamendi on Friday. Otamendi arrived at Buenos Aires' Monumental Stadium to sign a contract that will keep him with the club until December 31, 2027.
The defender, a lifelong River Plate fan, will join the squad after completing his World Cup duties with the Argentina national team and following the expiration of his contract with Portuguese side Benfica. With this transfer, the number of Qatar 2022 World Cup champions on the roster rises to five, joining goalkeeper Franco Armani and defenders Gonzalo Montiel, Marcos Acuña, and Germán Pezzella.
Otamendi brings a wealth of experience to the squad.
