Rubén Garabaya Appointed Besiktas JK Head Coach, Replacing Roy Sánchez

Besiktas JK has appointed Spanish coach Rubén Garabaya as head coach for the 2026/27 season. Garabaya will combine his recent role as Georgia’s national team manager with his extensive club experience to keep the Turkish giant competitive domestically and in Europe.

He succeeds Oliver Roy, who led the team to three consecutive league titles. At 47, the Asturian has previously assisted at Ciudad de Logroño and led clubs in Macedonia, Egypt and China, bringing a broad international pedigree.

Besiktas officials expect his tactical knowledge to sustain the club’s dominance and push deeper into European competitions. Garabaya plans an intensive preseason to reinforce the squad and implement his playing philosophy.
