Sergio Ruiz departs Granada after emotional farewell

Captain Sergio Ruiz ended his four‑year spell at Granada with tears after the club failed to activate a renewal offer, confirming his official departure from the Andalusian side. Over four seasons he served as a defensive stalwart and team captain, helping the club secure vital points and a place in the promotion race.

The Cantabrian midfielder arrived after stints with Racing, Las Palmas and a brief period in the United States, quickly becoming a fan favourite in Alhambra. Coach Pacheta praised Ruiz’s professionalism and leadership on and off the pitch.
