Spanish Colonial City Location Found via Silver Coin
A silver coin discovered beneath a church in Chile has pinpointed the location of the lost Spanish colony Ciudad del Rey Don Felipe. The settlement, founded in 1584, was abandoned due to harsh conditions and starvation, later known as Puerto del Hambre.
This finding provides a rare convergence between historical records and archaeological evidence.
