Tick Borne Ortho Virus: Serious Illness and Mortality Risk

Ticks are unwelcome guests in spring and summer, often encountered in areas with tall vegetation or brought in by pets. While Lyme disease is a well-known tick-borne illness, a lesser-known virus called orthonavirus also poses a significant concern.

Experts state that this virus has a genetic map split into three fragments, allowing it to change or mix easily. The most famous and dangerous member of the orthonavirus group is the Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever virus, which can be fatal in 10-40% of severe cases.
