UK to ban social media for under‑16s to protect mental health
Prime Minister Keir Starmer unveiled a legislation aimed at shielding minors from online harassment and mental‑health risks. The law will block users under 16 from entering popular platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
Starmer stressed the importance of allowing children to enjoy a genuine childhood free from digital addiction. The measures are slated to take effect in the first quarter of next year.
