Valencia Targets Zorya Goalkeeper Oleksandr Saputin as Alternative
Valencia continues its search to reinforce the goalkeeper position after failing to secure the transfer of Kayne Van Oevelen, who chose to sign with Ipswich Town. The club's transfer market movements were previously affected by an unexpected roster shift, leaving the Mestalla side with a limited budget for new additions.
In response to these financial constraints, the sporting management has reactivated its interest in Ukrainian goalkeeper Oleksandr Saputin. Currently playing for Zorya Lugansk in the Ukrainian Premier League, Saputin has already been in contact with the Spanish club and shows complete willingness to make the move.
Following months of scouting by the sports department, the young Ukrainian is now considered the best-positioned candidate to fill the vacancy left by the departure of Agirrezabala. Although the club initially favored the more experienced Van Oevelen due to his background in the Dutch top flight, they also value the opportunity for Saputin to develop alongside Giorgi Dimitrievski.
Dimitrievski currently holds a contract with the club until 2028, providing a stable presence in the squad for the upcoming seasons.
