The goal came during Real Madrid's emphatic 3-0 victory over Manchester City in the round of 16 second leg, a match in which Valverde completed a memorable hat-trick. Tottenham defender Micky Van de Ven's effort against Copenhagen finished second, while Bayern Munich's Luis Díaz claimed third place for his stunning strike against Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinal first leg.
